The clones make a promise in the latest Orphan Black trailer. It’s been an insane road for both the characters and fans of Orphan Black. From the first moments, when Sarah stares right in the eyes of a woman who looks exactly like her – moments before the woman committed suicide – there have been non-stop questions and mysteries. Even discovering that she is a clone and meeting some of her “Sestras” gave Sarah far more questions than answers. Over the last few years the clones have found themselves and their loved ones in constant danger as they try to find out the truth behind their creation, and what they might be wanted for now.
It’s protecting their loved ones that often drives the clones. All of them have willingly put themselves in danger on their journey to the truth. But when the danger targets Cosima’s girlfriend, Allison’s husband, or Sarah’s daughter and foster brother, that’s when the clones really step up. And when it comes to protecting each other, anyone threatening them had better watch out.
That fact is even more clear in the newest trailer released by BBC America, seen above. By the end, the four main clones make a vow. To protect each other – and their loved ones – they are going to fight back.
The trailer starts where the story did – with Sarah accidentally catching Beth in the act of stepping in front of a train. The four main clones – Sarah, Allison, Helena, and Cosima - each review and and remember some of the terrible things that had been done to them. Times when they were chased, hunted, used and betrayed. But as Sarah points out, “They could never break us.”
From there the tone shifts, as Sarah promises to fight. They each point out their individual reasons for fighting. Helena, who is pregnant, wants to control her body and protect her children. Cosima, a lesbian whose girlfriend Delphine has been caught up in everything since the beginning, wants to love whoever she wants. Soccer Mom Allison wants to protect their chosen families, including her husband Donnie and their two adopted children. And Sarah, who has spent her life running from one thing or another, wants her freedom. Clips of them standing up for themselves with various people and in several situations punctuate these statements.
The clones state that they will stick together and fight for their future until the end. And as Helena lets out a primal scream, they all proclaim that they are one. The final shot is of the four of them standing together, ready to finish this once and for all. By the end of this – the final season – the clones are determined to get their answers. No matter what.
The final season of Orphan Black begins Saturday June 10 at 10 pm on BBC America.
