This method bypasses the level 34 Crafting & level 49 Magic required to make it from scratch. But it comes at the cost of 1 cut diamond (to access the shop). Or as an alternative method, maybe crafting your own might be the way to go. Let’s look into the details of how ironmen can do this.
Method 1: Crafting a Ring of Forging (Ironman)
To make your own Ring of forging from scratch as an ironman, you’ll need:
A ring mould (you can buy one from the Al-Kharid crafting shop) A gold bar And a cut ruby
Then go to a furnace with these items in your inventory to create a ruby ring. Once you have your ring, use the Lvl-3 Enchant spell on the ring to enchant it – this will turn it into a Ring of forging. The Lvl-3 Enchant spell requires:
x1 cosmic rune x5 fire runes Level 49 Magic
Alternatively, if you don’t have the magic level required, you could get Murky Matt to enchant the ring for you for 250 coins. He’s located at the southeast area of the Grand Exchange.
Method 2: Catching Magpie Implings
At level 65 Hunter, you can catch Magpie implings with a butterfly net and an impling jar. And at level 75 Hunter, you can catch Magpie implings barehanded (you’ll need an impling jar). When opening a Magpie impling jar, you have a 1 in 20 chance of getting x3 noted Rings of Forging.
Where To Get Rubies
Gemstone-mining at Shilo Village is a great way to get a gem stockpile, and you have a 1 in 25.6 chance of getting an uncut ruby from a gem rock. And once you get an uncut ruby, you can cut into a cut ruby at level 34 crafting. You can also buy a cut ruby from any of the following shops:
Ardougne Gem Stall in East Ardougne: 1,500 gp per cut ruby Green Gemstone Gems in Keldagrim: 1,500 gp per cut ruby Kourend Castle Gem Stall: 1,000 gp per cut ruby Prifddinas Gem Stall: 1,000 gp per cut ruby
Buying A Ruby Ring
After the Lost City quest, you can go to the shop in Zanaris owned by Irksol to buy a Ruby ring for 1,012 gold pieces. And funny enough, ruby rings are the only things the shop sells. Unfortunately, the shop is located in the market area of Zanaris, which costs one cut diamond to access. So keep this in mind before attempting this method.
Getting A Ruby Ring from A Nest
If you’re out chopping trees, you might be lucky enough to get a Bird nest with a ring in it. If you manage to get one of these, you then have a 1 in 11.11 chance of getting a ruby ring. This is certainly not the fastest way to get a Ruby ring – but it’s a nice passive method of getting a small stockpile of them.
Trivia
There’s a ruby ring spawn in the Varrock West Bank basement, but you can’t reach it, nor use the Telekinetic Grab spell on it. So even though it’s technically in the game, it’s completely unattainable to players.
