The Curveballs

The Weeknd and Janet Jackson headline this year’s three-day musical celebration in GG Park. What with the fact that The Weeknd just dropped a new album, perhaps this makes sense. Surprise or not, we’re diggin’ it. Now dammit, Janet, we certainly did not see you coming. We’re so there for it, though. Super Bowl knows she always puts on a good show. And T-God JT won’t be there for an unrequested strip tease, yes?

The Tried and True

When you throw the likes of Bon Iver, Odesza, DJ Snake, Beck, and Quinn XCII into one weekend, the likelihood of crowd satisfaction is strong. That group, along with Mikky Ekko, Poolside, Rex Orange County, Carly Rae Jepsen, and SmokePurp makes for just the kind of weird and wonderful variety we so love about OSL.

If there’s cause to celebrate, we can hopefully all agree that Outside Lands has survived another year of not becoming Coachella. We don’t flock to the desert here in SF, we mosey over to the lush green fields of Golden Gate, like our hippie, beat forbearers did as they paved the way for us. We tip our ranger hats to them.

// Friday, August 10 until Sunday, August 12; Who are you pumped to see? See the full lineup here.
