It seems that one of the worst kept secrets in the gaming industry is out of the bag, as a port of Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch has leaked once more. Blizzard Entertainment was one of the companies that were originally reticent to support the Nintendo Switch during the early days of the console’s lifespan, especially following the reception to the Nintendo Wii U.

The Nintendo fans have been asking for a port of Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch since the console first launched, but Blizzard seemed hesitant, especially as the game was still receiving regular updates on different systems. The release of a successful port of Diablo III for the Nintendo Switch seems to have changed the company’s mind. The reveal of Diablo III also leaked early just before it was officially announced, so Blizzard as at least consistent in this regard.

The absence of games like Hearthstone and Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch has allowed developers of similar games to corner the market for themselves on Nintendo’s latest system. If Blizzard held any reservations about the technical capabilities of the Nintendo Switch, then the developers of the ports of games like Paladins and Warframe proved that those concerns were unfounded. The port of Warframe for the Nintendo Switch is especially impressive on a technical level and it shows what Nintendo’s hybrid system is capable of.

It’s likely that the fans won’t have long to wait for an official announcement regarding a port of Overwatch for the Nintendo Switch, as a Nintendo Direct is due to be held tonight. There have already been rumors regarding classic games in the Assassin’s Creed series arriving on the system, as well as a patent issued for a Super Nintendo controller for Switch, suggesting that SNES games will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch Online service. An announcement trailer for an Overwatch port on Nintendo Switch would have been a huge reveal for the Nintendo Direct, but it seems that it’s almost impossible to keep a secret in the video game industry lately if it has anything to do with Nintendo’s console hybrid.
