The Google Pixel was launched as a replacement to the Nexus lineup of smartphones. The company promised a high-end vanilla Android smartphone combined with a premium price tag. The lineup, however, has been plagued with a few issues since the first model arrived. A few customers of the first generation Pixel are now filing a class action lawsuit against Google for shipping units of the handset despite allegedly having knowledge of the faulty microphone on board the device. The lawsuit goes on to mention that even some of the warranty replacement products had the same intermittent microphone connectivity issues. Google confirmed this particular issue last year and promised to issue replacements to those affected. However, it seems like the issue wasn’t completely resolved, even after replacement units were offered. Speaking on the issue, a Google employee on the company’s support forums mentioned that the issue was pertaining to a hairline crack in the solder connection on the audio codec. This meant that the issue wasn’t available throughout the device’s lifetime, but would appear from time to time, making it even more frustrating for the customers. Google hasn’t commented on this particular issue as of yet, but a word is expected soon. Pixel 2 and 2 XL users have faced issues with display smudging on the device’s OLED display panels. This gave the device a lot of negative press during its arrival late last year, which is also when the iPhone 8 and iPhone X lineup were making their way to the market.
