We’ve seen the Apple Pencil being well received by high-profile artists even before launch, but I’ve so far seen little on what pen guys think of it. The Pen Addict filled in the gap with a review in which Myke Hurley said that it provided the digital handwriting experience he’d been waiting for. Sure, I like to doodle and scribble as much as the next person, but all I wanted to know was if the Apple Pencil would give me the digital handwriting experience I had wanted for so long....

Now that we’ve had some time to get used to OS X Yosemite, it’s time to explore some of its top features. This is a big step up from Mavericks when it comes to iOS integration and design. Yosemite isn’t quite the drastic change we saw from iOS 6 to iOS 7, but there are definitely visual differences. It’s no surprise that iOS 8 has plenty of exciting features available, but the same can be said about OS X Yosemite as well…...

OnePlus has started rolling out an incremental OxygenOS v2.2.0 update for the OnePlus X that fixes some bugs and introduces a couple of new features. The initial version of OxygenOS that the OnePlus X shipped with was pretty buggy, and slowly but steadily, OnePlus is fixing them with software updates. This update also fixes some bugs and even patches some of the security vulnerabilities that have been discovered in Android....

Pacific Rim: Uprising is the upcoming sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 kaiju tentpole movie. While the latter garnered much love within the geek community after it hit theaters, the second installment wound up floating around in development limbo until del Toro himself took a step back and Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil) stepped in as director. Since that time, casting announcements have flooded in for the Pacific Rim and filming has gotten underway, resulting in set photos somewhat steadily trickling online....

Parasite is a movie rife with symbolism, and nowhere is that more apparent than in the Scholar Stone, an object lugged around by the film’s protagonist, Kim Ki-woo (Choi Woo-Shik). Ki-woo obtains this good luck charm early in the runtime of recent Best Picture winner Parasite, just before he gets the opportunity to be a tutor for the daughter of the wealthy Park family. That employment opportunity sets the entire plot into motion, which soon involves Ki-woo and his family developing new identities so that they can obtain assorted jobs working for the various members of the opulent Park family....

Fortune has flagged up a video from 2011 of an eyewitness retelling how Jobs behaved and interacted when seeing Xerox’s PARC revolutionary graphical user interface inventions for the first time. Although the video is old, it seems to have gone largely unnoticed until this week and features some interesting anecdotes about the events. According to Tesler, a PARC scientist who ended up working for Apple shortly after, Xerox came to Apple about a business development deal regarding more mundane matters like Xerox distribution....

Mac OSX Lion just hit the Torrent sites but obviously it isn’t wise to download and use software from there. In fact, since Lion was downloaded from the app store, it likely has a developer’s signature which might lead to his/her banishment from the developer program. The software also talks to Apple at swscan.apple.com (not to be a little snitch) It really makes little sense to download it from a shady site however when Apple offers a Mac Dev account for just $99....

Parallels announced this evening that its virtual machine software Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac has been updated with “experimental” support for the technical preview of Windows 10 from Microsoft. Users who want to take the latest version of Windows for a test run without overwriting their existing Boot Camp installation or creating a new partition can now do so safely and free within the confines of a VM. The update also adds the ability to run the new preview version of Office for Windows 10, which includes updated versions of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel....

A week after announcing the Pebble Steel, Pebble has gone ahead and announced the Pebble Time Steel. Following Foxconn’s decision to expand its reach beyond China, Apple’s other contract manufacturer now plans to do the same. The Financial Times reports this morning that Pegatron will build production capacity in three new countries: India, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Currently, Pegatron accounts for about 30 percent of Apple’s assembly orders. The company thus far has relied almost entirely on China, but it now intends to change that with its expansion to Indonesia, Vietnam, and India....

The modern Disney renaissance in animation began back in 1989 with the release of The Little Mermaid, while Pixar exploded onto the scene as a major player in 1995 thanks to Toy Story. Blizzard’s Overwatch League’s latest controversy has to do with a Chinese Contenders team and the way an attempted signing of one of their players to Toronto Defiant allegedly went south after significant interference. There has been no official comment from Blizzard yet, but Contenders team Lucky Future is alleging that Toronto Defiant behaved fraudulently by telling one of the team’s top players that they had been signed when their contract was invalid....
