Pedro Pascal probably stole all of our hearts when he had his first break-out role as Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones. Of course, most recently, he also has a huge role as the Mandalorian on the new Star Wars live-action show. Pedro Pascal is also quite the movie actor, and it’s time to make a list of flicks to binge to get to know more about this man’s versatility and brilliance.
While he only has so many movies to his name, here are Pedro Pascal’s ten best, according to Rotten Tomatoes. Watch these movies to prepare for his upcoming and lead role as Maxwell Lord in the new DC film, Wonder Women 1984.
The Great Wall (2017) - 36%
This is one of Pedro Pascal’s newer films, and took place after his infamous role as Oberyn Martell. He starred alongside Matt Damon in this action-adventure. While it didn’t do super great on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s definitely a popcorn flick that will keep viewers entertained.
Taking place in ancient China, a group of European mercenaries stumble across a secret army that is tasked to defend the Great Wall of China against gigantic and monstrous creatures. It’s pretty basic, but Pascal has a pretty prominent role, and Damon and Pascal are always fantastic. However, it still couldn’t quite earn a high rating.
Equalizer 2 (2018) - 52%
This is another newer, leading role for Pedro Pascal. He’s the secondary character alongside Denzel Washington. This is obviously the sequel to the popular crime action thriller The Equalizer, which was released in 2014.
This is just another action movie where men are seeking justice, so it’s not super creative or original. Still, while 52% isn’t a lot to brag about, but we know that this movie is also pretty good with popcorn. Again, it’s hard to pass up this pair of actors, and it’s fantastic seeing Pedro Pascal in the spotlight.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) - 52%
This role is mesmerizing for Pascal, and in this sequel of this action comedy drama, he stars alongside Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, and many more. He plays Whiskey, and his role is both totally badass and absolutely hilarious.
If Game of Thrones fans are missing Oberyn, this is probably the closest one can get, and his character is full of humor and incredibly badass fighting skills. This movie is cheesy and obscure, which likely led to its 52%, but it’s still entertaining to watch.
Bloodsucking Bastards (2015) - 65%
Many have probably never heard of this flick, or maybe this is a cult film that some are already a huge fan of. Pedro Pascal takes a leading role, and this action comedy horror tells the story of a cubicle worker and his best friend, who discover that their boss is a vampire.
Also, their coworkers are quickly turning into the un-dead! It’s probably not the best film out there, but a 65% for this kind of movie is actually pretty impressive. However, a vampire movie likely won’t ever exceed a 65% nowadays.
The Adjustment Bureau (2011) - 71%
Pedro Pascal has a very, very minor in this flick, but it was certainly one of the first blockbuster films that had his name appear in the credits. Plus, it also stars Matt Damon. This is a classic sci-fi thriller, and everyone should know the story of this politician and dancer who find themselves in the midst of mysterious forces.
Emily Blunt is also phenomenal, as per usual. Pedro is credited as Maitre D’ Paul De Santo (a pretty minor role), but while re-watching this classic, one can keep an eye out for him. A 71% is worthy for this drama, and this is definitely a critically-acclaimed crime flick.
Hermanas (2005) - 71%
Obviously, Pedro Pascal is Chilean-born, so he actually has a couple of foreign films. This one was made in Argentina, and follows two sisters who were separated, just for them to meet again in Texas in 1984.
Pedro has a role in this, but he’s clearly not one of the leading ladies. Still, this movie will certainly expand your horizons, and give viewers a pretty interesting look at an early foreign film before this man was truly famous. With a 71%, this movie is wholesome and eyeopening.
Triple Frontier (2019) - 72%
This Netflix Original is actually super underrated. Starring Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac (hello, fellow Star Wars actor), Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, and our main man, this movie tells the story of five veterans who reunite to take down a South American drug lord.
The catch, is that they take it into their own hands when they feel cheated by the government, and it leads them into terrible circumstances. This is an incredible tale about veterans, and also still has so much action and drama. It’s a different take on soldiers, brilliant directing and acting, and action scenes earned this movie a 72%.
Prospect (2018) - 89%
This movie is actually also pretty underrated, and it managed an impressive 89% for its ingenuity and stunning direction. This sci-fi drama follows a teenage girl and her father, who travel to an alien moon.
However, while securing gems hidden in the toxic forest, they find themselves faced against the wilderness’s inhabitants, and must juggle greed and survival. This movie is definitely interesting, and actually has Pedro Pascal as one of the main characters. Fans should certainly give this one a watch if they love Pedro Pascal.
The Mandalorian (2019-) 94%
While this isn’t a movie, this is the whole reason this article is here. Pedro Pascal’s newest role is the Mandalorian. Created by Jon Favreau, this new Disney+ series is taking the internet by storm, and this Star Wars spin-off show is everything that galaxy fans everywhere needed just before the original film franchise finally came to an end. With a 94%, this series has already been renewed for season 2, and Pedro Pascal has officially taken over the small screen once again.
If Beale Street Could Talk (2018) - 95%
This is another movie that doesn’t quite star Pedro Pascal, but it’s certainly the highest-rated film where his name appears on the credits list. This Oscar-winning film tells the story of a young woman who tries to embrace her pregnancy, but struggles while her and family try to prove her childhood friend, and lover, is innocent of the crime he’s being charged with.
This is a beautiful tale of race and family, and a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes proves its inspiring and deep story was beautifully portrayed. Pascal is credited as Pietro Alvarez, which again, is a very minor role, but it was impossible not to include this critically-acclaimed flick.
